News from Shanghai: Ignatius Wu Jianlin Consecrated Auxiliary Bishop

In news from the Church in China, a new Auxiliary Bishop of Shanghai was consecrated on October 15, 2025. Rev. Ignatius Wu Jianlin, who has served the church in pastoral and administrative roles since his 1997 ordination, was appointed by Pope Leo XIV on August 11, 2025.
As Vatican News reports, Bishop Jianlin's ordination was approved "within the framework of the Provisional Agreement between the Holy See and the People’s Republic of China. We invite you to read more at Agenzia Fides.
